Health Canada required the new label warnings for both Propecia and Proscar after receiving reports that males taking the finasteride containing drugs developed breast cancer. In addition to changing the drugs labeling, Canadian health officials recommended that patients taking Propecia or Proscar report changes such as breast enlargement, tenderness, lumps, pain or nipple discharge to their doctors. This latest warning comes on the heels of a Drug Safety Communication Publication** issued by the FDA in June, which linked Proscar to high-grade prostate cancer.
